How to update the Obsidian installer
Update Obsidian's bundled Electron version when ZotLit asks you to run the latest installer.
Use this guide when ZotLit shows the persistent Update Obsidian to use ZotLit notice.
Obsidian's automatic updates can update the app version, but they cannot replace the Electron component bundled with the desktop app. ZotLit needs a newer Electron version. An installer update means downloading and running the current Obsidian installer over your existing installation.
Keep your current installation
You do not need to uninstall Obsidian first.
Update the installer
Download the current installer
Select Download Obsidian in the ZotLit notice. You can also open the Obsidian download page. Download the installer for your operating system.
Close Obsidian
Close every Obsidian window and wait for the app to exit.
Run the installer
Open the downloaded installer and follow the normal installation steps. Install it in the same location as your current Obsidian installation.
Reopen Obsidian and enable ZotLit
Open Obsidian. Go to Settings > Community plugins, find ZotLit, and select Enable.
ZotLit now enables without the installer update notice.
